BURLINGTON, VT – UnTapped, the Vermont-based maple sports nutrition business announced today their role as the official nutrition sponsor the Vermont City Marathon and Unplugged Half-Marathon.
“The running community in New England and beyond has supported UnTapped since the beginning,” said UnTapped co-founder and ex-pro cyclist Ted King, “We are thrilled to take a larger part in the community by partnering with the Vermont City Marathon this year.”
Maple syrup is a simple and sweet athletic super fuel. Packed with low glycemic carbohydrates, electrolytes, amino acids and minerals, it is an ideal fuel for runners pushing their limits on-course.
When asked why UnTapped chose the Vermont City Marathon from the crowd of popular New England running events, UnTapped co-founder Doug Brown had this to say: “We’re a Vermont business producing the state’s most iconic food staple for athletic fuel. Supporting the largest one-day sporting event in our own backyard with food that participants know and love was a natural choice.”
“We at Vermont City Marathon love to partner with local businesses as they help to offer a unique Vermont experience to our racers. UnTapped is in our backyard and their products practically demand their own food-group in New England. They’re a perfect fit,” said Jess Cover on behalf of Vermont City Marathon. On race day (May 27th) UnTapped’s line of 100% VT maple syrup packets, maple waffles and all-new Mapleaid drink mix will be available at aid stations along the course. UnTapped is partnering with local retailers including fellow VCM sponsor, SkiRack, to offer special product pricing for race entrants to try the product as they train for race day.
